INTRODUCTION I have selected two pieces designed by Philippe Starck those being the " W.W " stool (1990 ) and the lemon squeezer " Juicy Salif " (1990 ) . I selected Starck because of its interesting designs, the fact that it is his own unique concept. The many different ways it can be perceived and interpreted by another individual. Having not come across such a unique stool before it causes you to be more aware of different styles. The stool is similar to other works by the same designer. My second choice was the "Juicy Salif " one reason was the whole idea of changing the regularity of what I understood to be a lemon squeezer . As with the stool it is defying convention in a way, breaking away into its own category. The shape greatly interested me, the fact that it is different from anything I had seen before.

Also the two are similar in style, sleek and streamlined with the idea of horns BIOGRAPHY Philippe Starck was born in 1949 and is still designing today. He was Born in Paris, during his adolescence he was an enthusiastic draughtsman, inspiration may have come from his father who designed aircraft's. At the age of 16 he studied for 16 years at Ecole Nissim de Camodo in his home town. During this time he set up his first company which produced inflatable objects. He was the artistic director at Pierre Cardin's studio, he also was the interior designer in two night clubs. In 1979 he founded his own product company, two years later he left Ecole Nissim de Camodo.
