Report on the Religious Life of Planet Earth

In order for me to start my research I had to find out what makes a person religious and the definition of religion. Religion is a collection of cultural systems, beliefs, and views that establish structure that relates humanity to spirituality as well as moral values. Many religions consist of narratives, traditions and scared histories that are intended to give meaning of life or to explain the origin of life or the universe. Religion is also a specific, fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of people. I have discovered that religious people do not need to believe in a God, but they do participate in traditional activities that they deem sacred. Examples of this would be prayer, communion, meditation, charity, mission work, sacred storytelling, fasting, sacrifices, visiting sacred sites such as temples, pilgrimages, and attending rituals. The people of these religions are also required to follow a set of rules, guidelines, or laws that reflects how religious those people are depending on how successful they are at following those rules.

The criteria used to determine if people on earth are religious involves understanding what they believe in regards to the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe as well as the way they observe rituals, and the way they live their lives...
