During the late 1980s and 90s the boyband came back in fashion with New Kids On The Block. They had worldwide success and multimillion selling albums.
New Kids were created in 1986 by Maurice Starr who wanted to recreate the success he had had with his previous boyband New Edition. Their success really started when they released Hangin' Tough in 1988 which sold 8 million copies and their image had got tougher than it was for the first album. They released a Christmas album which went double platinum and they continued to release successful records until the early 90s when they went out of fashion. They tried a comeback in 1994 when they shortened their name to New Kids and NKOTB but it failed as music tastes and teenagers had moved on to new bands.
They led to the creation of more boybands who would go on to equal and better their success.

christmas treeDuring the 90s there were many American boybands who had massive success. Some of these were Backstreet Boys, 98degrees and *Nsync. I will be talking mainly about *Nsync as they had the most success worldwide.
In 1996 five men got together and formed a pop group. They called themselves Nsync as it is made up of all their initials of their names.
They released their first album called *Nsync in 1998 and it went on to sell 10 million copies. Later that same year they went on to release two Christmas albums called The Winter Album and Home for Christmas which went multi platinum.
*Nsync then went on to record and release the No Strings Attached album in March 2000. This album broke all records with one million being sold on the first day and 2.4 million in the first week.
