There are many types of drugs in today's society. Some are beneficial to society, such as medication, other drugs such as cocaine, marijuana and heroin are harmful to society. For a number of years, illegal drugs have been an increasing problem in society. They physically alter the brain and are very dangerous. Drugs have been the cause of innumerable deaths, especially in teenagers. More teens are using drugs each year. Not only has the drug problem increased but drug related problems are on the rise. There have been escalating costs spent on the war against drugs and countless dollars spent on rehabilitation, but the problem still exists. Not only has the drug problem increased but drug related problems are on the rise. Drug abuse is a killer in our society.

Almost every teen experiments with drugs. The normal age to experiment is 12 to 13 years of age. Most teens start off by trying marijuana and 60% of them go on to use cocaine.

Teens start using drugs for many different reasons: to be cool, problems at home, peer pressure or just to try them. Most parents' worry that their teenage children might be using or might start using drugs. Sometimes the use of drugs can have disastrous consequences on their health. Teens around the ages of 15-18 are using drugs and also selling them to younger or older friends and strangers. With drugs being available for anyone to buy this leads several problems dealing with peer-pressure. Many teens every year are having trouble because they are being pressured into doing drugs.

Drugs are generally defined as anything that alters a person's mood, feelings, perception, or emotion. There are obviously many different types of drugs, including not only illicit drugs but also alcohol and tobacco for young people. When people...
