Comparison Essay - Rain of Gold and The Odyssey
Authors tend to share similar approaches to the style in which they write and the techniques they use. Whether because of comparable characters or because of similar events that take place in two stories, stories often seem to follow similar trails and portray related stories. The Odyssey by Homer and Rain of Gold by Victor Villaseñor are two such stories that follow comparable trails. Throughout the journey of life and struggles which characters in both stories must overcome, a similarity can be seen in characters, opposing forces and themes, and the stylistic techniques in which the two authors write.
The story Rain of Gold is a tale of two families who eventually become related through a marriage. The tale begins with the story of a young girl named Lupe and her family. Lupe and her family lived in La Lluvia de Oro, a Mexican city, during the Revolution.

The stories of Juan and Lupe are then woven together and result in the meeting of Juan and Lupe. Juan and Lupe fall in love, and eventually get married. This story, although seemingly pleasant, is in fact a struggle and a tremendous journey towards acceptance.
