In the film, "Run Lola Run", there are many different symbols, etc that are used. Each symbol represents obstacles and situations that the main characters have to conquer. Without these, the film would be incomplete.

Love is a very main part of this film. It is basically all based on love. The love that Lola and Manni share is unconditional. As it is why they will go to such extreme measures for each other. The idea of love is first introduced in the beginning scene where Lola is on the phone with Manni. He wants her to somehow find 100,000 marks within 20 minutes. This being almost impossible, Manni says to Lola, "I thought you said love can do everything?" He seems to think that love is not strong enough to save him. Although Lola, the stronger of the two, believes that the power of their love will help them.

This is shown in her determination and power that she has to help Manni.

The colour scheme in this film is also very symbolic. The colour red is used often thought the film. Red can represent love, warmth and security. Lola's bright, red hair, the telephone, the ambulance, the plastic bag, and the background colours of many scenes are examples of where red can be found.

Almost the entire film, Lola is found running. Running for her live as well as Manni's. Her running represents her power and determination that she has to save him. She tries to remain calm. Also, whenever something seems to be out of control, Lola uses a high pitch scream. This scream may disturb other people, but it helps her gain control and feels relaxed in the situation.

The number 20 is contently used in different ways throughout "Run Lola Run". Lola has 20 minutes to get the money to Manni. She is constantly looking at clocks, showing her race against time. Each sequence is approximately 20 minutes, and when betting on a number at the casino, she wins by choosing number 20. At the casino, she is so determined to win money, that it seems as if it she made it land on 20. She screams and then finally it lands on 20 and she wins. This also shows what great power she has.

The narrator in the opening of the film talks about a soccer match. This is comparing life to a game. You know the basics, but how you play it determines where you'll end up. He throws a soccer ball up into the air, and then the movie starts form there.

The film "Run Lola Run" is very unique as it is different from most others. Although it has similarities because all films have many hidden meanings and symbols, as this one does. These symbols are a main part of the movie. They represent things that are happening on a deeper level. In the end, everything is related to love. The power of the love between Lola and Manni, the love they have for each other. This is the reason that they are doing what they do. Lola is fighting for Manni's safety and life. This strong use of symbols and deep meanings to things connects the viewers on a higher level. It keeps them interested and wanting to know more about what they mean and how they relate to the film. Overall it makes the film better.

In conclusion, I feel; that these symbols help to understand and realize the importance of everyday obstacles that are in your way. And it shows you how the power of things such as love can be so overpowering if you are determined to get where you want. The main character, Lola, demonstrates this by showing her love determination for helping her boyfriend Manni.
