When you said that the owner of CNN said "I would make the case that both sides are engaged in terrorism," to be honest, I was not convinced. You only included part of the quote. Before this, he said "The Palestinians are fighting with human suicide bombers, that's all they have. The Israelis ... they've got one or the most powerful military machines in the world. The Palestinians have nothing. So who are the terrorists?" ( http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/0618-02.htm ) I think that he makes a good point and that the network is perceived as neither clearly pro-Palestinian, nor pro-Israeli, considering that both sides have accused the network of both biases.

Although the society may not be entirely mysogynistic, Okonkwo is. And, he repeatedly gets away with beating his wives. Although he is punished for it during the week of peace, and during other times, he is reprimanded, he still remains respected and honored. This is a fault in Ibo society. Ofcourse, people get away with domestic abuse in western culture as well-- but it is not okay here either.

I like this essay, although I think it is slightly repetitive with certain phrases. Overall, it is a very nice, warm, fuzzy, "feel-good" peice of writing that discusses the issue of human connection with other animals.Well-done, successful imagery.

I like this, it is very interesting, slightly creepy, slightly fantastical. The use of the word "wasted" adds a touch of western culture to seemingly isolate island life. Nice peice!
