Many people tend to believe Michael Jackson is a man who will go to any extreme just to receive a new degree of publicity. Although Michael Jackson was centre of attention due to his unusual behaviour, it was by no means what he wished for. Michael Jackson was in a difficult time in his life, a time when Identity confusion was rampant within him. Michael Jackson was simply trying to discover their true selves. Paul's first course of action on his journey to enlightenment is to discover whether or not he is truly a human by nature. Paul's second stop in his journey will lead him to the depths of man's consciousness. Paul will attempt to discover who he truly is. The final test for Paul is presented by the Fremen people; it will give Paul at last a place and people to call his own. People will spend their entire lives searching for a sense of self worth despite many possible outcomes that could result in failure.

Paul's first test on his way to finding his true value is to discover if he is really a human being or merely and animal who reacts purely on instincts. Paul is subjected to a test by the Reverend Mother Mohiam who puts his hand into a small box of pain. It is said that an animal will withdraw his hand at the first sign of pain due to its natural instincts, but a human is said to be able to override its instincts and attempt to wait out the pain. Paul passes this test and discovers that he is indeed a true human. "A duke's son must know about poisons... Here's a new one for you: the gom jabbar. It kills only animals."
